01
Problem and crux
Octoly had proven its influencer marketplace in France. Expansion into Spain raised a more useful question than whether we could translate the product: would brands and creators both participate at the level needed for the marketplace to work?
02
Assumptions to test
We needed evidence that Spanish brands valued the service, that enough relevant creators would join, and that local operations could deliver reliably. We also wanted to know which parts of the French model could transfer and which needed to change.
03
What I did
I tested demand, mapped competitors and adapted the service to the Spanish market. I then recruited the local team, built the operating processes and secured the first customers.
Once the operation worked, I documented the launch process so future country teams would not need to rediscover it from scratch.
04
Evidence and result
The Spanish business reached €500K in annual recurring revenue, signed more than 30 brands and grew to a four-person team. The market-entry playbook was later used to support expansion into Italy and Germany.
05
Relevance to AI safety operations
Promising interventions often need to work across organisations, programmes or jurisdictions. This case shows how I test fit in a new context, identify the conditions for success and turn practical learning into infrastructure other teams can reuse.
